Spiny Seastar - five arm
Astropecten polyacanthus
Appearance: Purple/brown colour on top and orange underneath. White spines along edge of arms.
Size: To 200mm.
Information: Found on sand and soft mud-sand zones. Prey on gastropods and bivalves, which they swallow whole.
