Marine-Watch is a fun and rewarding activity that aims to raise awareness to the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems.
The health of our seagrass is under constant threat by human activity and natural occurrences. The analysis of collected data helps to establish tracking patterns that act as an early warning signal for serious environmental changes.
Many aquatic animals – such as dugongs, fish, prawns and turtles – rely on an abundance of seagrass for food and shelter. Their survival relies on retaining healthy seagrass fields.
Participants will be using water monitors to check water quality parameters - including temperature and conductivity.
Volunteers are asked to wear surf shoes, boots or old track shoes. A hat, sunscreen, an old towel and a water bottle is also recommended.
