Tail-light Squid Shell
Spirula spirula

Appearance:  White, gas-filled lightweight, curled spiral.

Size: To 35mm.

Location: Small spiral shells are often found on beaches.

Information: These are the external floats of the tail-light squid and are attached to the back of the squid's body. Tail-light squids live in very deep water and are rarely seen.

Appearance: 
Flat-sided, creamish-pink cushions.  

Size: Cushions to 20mm.

Location: Found in rocky shores, intertidal estuaries.

Information: Also known as the blue swimmer crab, flower crab and blue manna crab.
